Anping County has a long history engaging in the production of wire mesh, with its output and export volume accounting for 90 percent of the whole county. It is largest netting production base, also the major wire netting products distribution center in China. It is also known as the important export base for the metal and wire mesh products.

According to the historical records in the eighth year of Hongzhi, the Ming Dynasty, that is, in 1495, Anping County began to produce screen, and began scaled production in middle of Qing Dynasty. At that time there were dozens of firms set in Tianjin and Inner Mongolia by Anping people, engaged in wire mesh business and trade activities. The wire-drawing technology was introduce into Anping in 1925, from then on, Anping county began to produce and process metal netting, gradually developed from civil use to the industrial field including building and mines. With China’s Reform and Opening to the Outside World, Anping wire netting industry has entered into a totally new historical development period of technology improvement and machine innovation. Anping County Wire Mesh Industry was successively listed into the State "Spark Program", "Key Supported Products by The State Commission of Science and Technology" and "Top Ten Spark Rolling Program" of Hebei Province.

Until now, the wire netting products have been developed into 8 series , more than 500 varieties and over 7000 specifications, with the main products being series paper-making screen, series phosphorus-copper netting, series stainless steel netting, series middle and low carbon steel wire netting, series metal sheet meshes, special-shaped netting , crimped wire mesh, eliminator netting, spiral screen, fibre netting, window screening, sintered metal mesh, melting filters, etc. The above-mentioned products are widely used in industries and scientific research fields, such as, oil, chemical fiber, chemicals, mines, machinery, building, textile, paper-making, medicine, food, marine and space and aviation, exported to over 100 countries and regions such as the U.S.A., Japan, Korea, Australia and Italy, the middle East and other countries and regions. On Sep. 8th, 1999, a news conference was held in the People’s Great Hall by China Hardware Association. During this meeting, Anping County was awarded the title of Native Land of Wire Mesh in China, by the association, with the authorization of China National Light Industry Bureau.
